ORGANIZER BIO
“A wish changes nothing, a decision changes everything." As a former newspaper photographer & editor, I now spend a lot more time editing rooms than pictures. I help clients visualize potential, clear the logjams and sort the forest from the trees. And yes, I do love metaphors. In 2010 I helped my parents downsize and relocate to an independent living senior community, and after my father died in 2017, I facilitated my mom’s move into assisted living. That was the genesis of Jane Hale Organizing LLC. I love working with people ready to embrace change, whether transitioning to a new home or transforming an existing area into a more organized and functional space. My goal is to lighten your load and de-stress your mess in creative, eco-friendly, ways. It is my joy to help you find yours in whatever area of the home you find overwhelming. EDUCATION After earning a BA in Journalism from MSU, I worked on various publications for a few years before working as a staff photographer and photo editor at The Flint Journal for 25 years. SECOND CAREER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Since 2013 I've been a very active member of the National Association of Productivity & Organizing Professionals (NAPO) Michigan Chapter and served on the board for five years as Director of Professional Development. In 2019, our chapter earned the Chapter of the Year designation from NAPO national headquarters. In May 2024 I will be returning to the board as Treasurer. As the professional development director, I coordinated continuing education for our chapter, which took my love of learning and serving to a whole new level by planning programs & scheduling speakers for our monthly meetings. I continue my education by attending monthly chapter meetings and pursuing online coursework to continually absorb fresh ideas. AN EVOLVING WORK LIFE In late 2015, I expanded my repertoire to include an 18-month project with a small manufacturing business client where I got to use my power tools along with my organizing skills, and to partner with a fellow NAPO MI organizer on the job. In 2018 I led a team of three organizers, transforming a warehouse-sized storage area that had become a dumping zone into well-organized, well-labeled and well-defined user-friendly zones of storage shelving. I now specialize in working with seniors in both organizing and relocation projects, and small team projects for both residential and small business clients.
