CHIC- Community Hoarding Intervention Coalition

"Hoarding" means acquiring too much stuff and not wanting to part with it. It can become quite severe and even dangerous, especially for people who live alone and have few visitors. When a person thinks there is nothing wrong with having a lot of stuff and it's nobody else's business anyway, it is very difficult for anyone to help - even family members, who become frustrated and discouraged. However, some people who hoard are able to recognize that they have a problem and need help.
